Where did investigative reporting go? & why is the media selecting the government, including presidents, without the voters?

Bill Clinton was a southern Democrat/Republican; in his telecommunication act was hidden the Cross-Ownership Act that allowed the media (The 4th Estate) to go up for sale to the highest bidders to anyone in the world, enabling complete control of the press.
